Under the concern of the relevant departments of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the “First Shanghai New Material Additives R&D Application and Technology Exchange Conference”, which was organized by the Professional Committee of Additives of Shanghai Polyurethane Industry Association and mainly hosted by Shanghai Qiguang Group, was held in the afternoon of September 20, 2022 at Shanghai Qiguang Group. The conference aims to jointly discuss and exchange the research and development applications, technological innovation and future development trends of new material additives. Although the additives are small, they are powerful and versatile, playing an important role as “unsung heroes” in industrial production processes and various important application scenarios. We should make concerted efforts to further increase R&D efforts and market expansion, so that they can play a greater role and become “famous” instead of “unknown”, and contribute to the continuous and in-depth development of new materials.

In order to regulate the development of polyurethane additives and drive product innovation and technological innovation in the industry, the Professional Committee of Additives of Shanghai Polyurethanes Industry Association (the Additives Committee) was established in December 2021 as a joint initiative of 19 enterprises including Shanghai Qiguang Group. The focus of the Additives Committee is to do a good job of serving the additives industry and promoting inter-enterprise contact and collaboration, etc.; to carry out business contacts with relevant advanced foreign enterprises, promote the application and promotion of cutting-edge technologies, provide services for downstream application enterprises, and promote the green and rapid sustainable development of the polyurethane industry.

Zhang Qiming, Vice President of Shanghai Polyurethane Industry Association and Director of Specialized Committee of Additives and Chairman of Shanghai Qiguang Group, pointed out that it is rare and memorable to hold a meeting on R&D and application of new material additives and technology exchange today. We should stick to the goal, never give up, take small steps, do not stop, and take long steps; face the market, change the concept, and continue to innovate; for the current situation and future development trend of additives R&D and market application, we should work together, do fine and fine, and the spring of polyurethane industry will surely come quickly.
Jin Ye fully affirmed the work done by Shanghai Polyurethane Industry Association in promoting the development of new materials additives. He said that today’s meeting was attended by both companies located in Shanghai and companies from Jiangsu and Zhejiang, fully highlighting the importance of the meeting and the platform of the Special Committee on Additives formed by the Shanghai Polyurethane Industry Association. To further play the role of the Association and the Special Committee on Additives, fully embody the platform service function, research and development needs, special additives product docking comb, and more extensive cooperation.

At the same time, I hope to continue to hold R & D applications of additives and technical exchanges, as a way to communicate with each other upstream and downstream, mutual coordination and efforts to promote the work.
