Alkyldimethicone consists of alkyl groups grafted onto a silicone backbone. Alkyl dimethicone has enhanced compatibility with many organic-based cosmetic oil ingredients, e.g. UV filter. The addition of alkyl groups to the silicone backbone causes changes in the surface tension of different oil systems with different polarities.
