What are the environmental limits for organotin in exported artificial leather?
I. Introduction to organotin compounds
Organotin compounds are metal organic compounds formed by the direct combination of tin and carbon elements. The formula RnSnX4- (n=1-4, R is an alkyl or aromatic group). There are two types of compounds: alkyltin compounds and aromatic compounds.
The basic structures are mono-, di-, tri- and tetra-substituted (referring to the number of R’s). 10-20% of the tin production is used for the synthesis of organotin compounds.
II. Main uses
A, commonly used as PVC heat stabilizer;
B, polyurethane (PU) and other polymeric materials production catalyst;
C. Preservative and insecticide for textiles and leather products.
III. Hazards
The main damage to living organisms is: the central nervous system will cause brain white matter edema, cellular energy use in the oxidative phosphorylation process is blocked, the thymus and lymphatic system inhibition, cellular immunity damage, hormone secretion inhibition caused by diabetes and hyperlipidemia, etc..
Toxicity to humans, local irritation of the skin, respiratory corneas, through the skin or brain edema can cause systemic toxicity and even death.

2. REACH Annex 17 of the SVHC list of substances: ≤ 0.1% (1000PPM) for all organotins;
3, Norway’s “Prohibition of Certain Hazardous Substances in Consumer Products” PoHS stipulates Tributyltin (TBT) and Triphenyltin (TPT): ≤ 0.001 (by mass percentage);
